Hello from the Wigan & Leigh Art Map team,

Firstly, we would like to say a big thank you for supporting the art map project. It’s been a real privilege to see the project flourish and our community raising each other up. We are putting our creative community #OnTheArtMap!

We wanted to take this opportunity to share a little update with you. Since receiving funding from GM Spirit supported by Wigan Council, we have been working hard to develop the map taking into account all the consultation we did in January and really listening to what our network wants.

The map now includes extra features making it easier to navigate and hopefully creating a long-standing resource for our local community, investors and educators. We have reorganised artists into categories and introduced the option for artists and organisations to share resources and opportunities including;

• Exhibition spaces available
• Studio spaces available
• Services available to support artists
• Looking to collaborate
• Social and networking for artists
• Equipment available for artists to borrow

If you have anything you would like adding to the map, just head over to our website and fill in our short form.

Through conversations with artists, we have also found a way to create an art movement that encapsulates everything we want to say about art and culture in the borough. We are asking artists and arts organisations to start using #OnTheArtMap to showcase our thriving and talented network of artists and cultural organisations. 

We are also excited to be launching our On The Art Map profiles this week too. As a little treat to our supporters, you get to read them before anyone else. Featuring in a profile is open to anyone on the art map, so please get in touch if you would like to feature.
