Wigan & Leigh Art Map is a growing online directory celebrating the vibrant community of artists and arts organisations who live in or regularly contribute to the arts and culture of Wigan Borough. The map offers an easy way for residents, visitors, and anyone interested in the local arts scene to discover the breadth of creativity happening across our towns. Our hope is the Art Map becomes a welcoming gateway to the creative heart of our community.

Being part of the Art Map is completely free, and we welcome artists and organisations of all kinds; whether you’re an emerging practitioner, an established studio, a creative collective, or a grassroots arts space. If you’re active in Wigan Borough’s cultural landscape, get added to the map, this is your space to shine.

Wigan & Leigh Art Map was founded in March 2023, and works in partnership with Wigan’s cultural network, GM Arts (Greater Manchester Combined Authority) and Wigan Council. We became a Community Interest Company (CIC) in June 2026 and our aim is to make it easier for everyone to find out about the arts and culture sector in Wigan Borough. By highlighting our rich network of artists and arts organisations, the map helps foster collaboration, reduce the sense of isolation many creatives experience, and shine a spotlight on the borough’s cultural talent. Our ambition is for the Art Map to encourage greater investment in the local arts scene, attract visitors, and help the creative community grow even stronger.

Meet the team

The Art Map is made possible by a dedicated team who all balance their involvement with full-time jobs elsewhere. While we receive funding that helps support the project, a significant amount of the work is undertaken voluntarily.
