Wigan & Leigh Art Map is a growing online directory celebrating the vibrant community of artists and arts organisations who live in or regularly contribute to the arts and culture of Wigan Borough. The map offers an easy way for residents, visitors, and anyone interested in the local arts scene to discover the breadth of creativity happening across our towns.

Being part of the Art Map is completely free, and we welcome artists and organisations of all kinds; whether you’re an emerging practitioner, an established studio, a creative collective, or a grassroots arts space. If you’re active in Wigan Borough’s cultural landscape, this is your space to shine.

The project is artist‑led and rooted in the local community. It was founded by Wigan‑based artist Liz Chapman, developed alongside creative producer Charlotte Yeung. We deliver the project in partnership with our local cultural community, Greater Manchester Arts (GM Arts) and Wigan Council, with support from GMCA Spirit funding. We recently welcomed Elysia Day until March 2026 to help us with her amazing social media skills.

Our aim is to make it easier for everyone to learn about the arts and culture sector in Wigan Borough. By highlighting our rich network of artists and arts organisations, the map helps foster collaboration, reduce the sense of isolation many creatives experience, and shine a spotlight on the borough’s cultural talent. Over time, our ambition is for the Art Map to encourage greater investment in the local arts scene, attract visitors, and help the creative community grow even stronger.
